The St Andrews Ultimate Club prides itself on being consistently competitive at the national level, balanced with great team chemistry and spirit.

We achieve this through our community of committed players and coaches. We are always looking for new players no matter the skill level. Our vision is to be the best and most successful student ultimate club in Europe, and to develop the potential of all our players while prioritising the spirit of the game.

Ultimate frisbee originated in America and is quickly growing in popularity in Europe. There are now many club, university and school tournaments across the country. The brilliant team at St Andrews is led by our Head Coach, Ben Heywood. He has been involved in the ultimate community world-wide for many years. He leads our sessions alongside two other coaches, Rachel Turton and Oliver Browne.

If you are a complete beginner to ultimate, there is no need to worry. Our club is incredibly welcoming to newcomers and our training sessions cater to everyone from beginner to advanced competitive levels.

We run one recreational session a week of just casual games, no coaching or drills. Our training sessions are well supported by our captains and three coaches. Across the board there is a wealth of international experience. Within the club there has been numerous international selections, some of whom only started playing when they came to St Andrews.
The club has two women’s and two men’s teams. Both our first teams compete at division 1 BUCS tournaments, indoors and outdoors. Over the years the first teams have been very successful. Both our men’s and women’s teams have been the highest placing second team nationally multiple times, and we have had members go on to national representation.

We have also been able to enter third teams on the both the men’s and women’s side in indoor competition. In addition to our separate trainings and tournaments, we also compete together in mixed indoor and outdoor tournaments. This is a great way for the men’s and women’s sides to learn from each other and to have a chance to compete together as one club. In 2019, our mixed team came 8^th at indoor nationals.

The University hosts a Sports Fayre at the beginning of each academic year during Orientation Week, giving prospective players the opportunity to talk to club members and sign up to ‘Give It A Go’ sessions.
