Teams

We are proud to have 4 teams competing across multiple divisions:

Men’s 1st team

The team currently competes in the Scottish Tier 1 league for the British Universities & College Sport (BUCS) on Wednesdays, which they are currently unbeaten in.  In addition to this the team also travels to various weekend tournaments throughout the year, including BUCS indoor regionals and nationals, mixed regionals and nationals, and club events.

The success the team sees is due to a heavy time commitment from the players.  They train 3 times a week (1 indoor, 2 outdoor) and benefit from twice weekly strength and conditioning sessions.  There is also a weekly fitness session, and team meeting which includes video analysis and tactical breakdowns.

Recent results: 2017 BUCS division 1 nationals (indoor) gold; 2018 BUCS division 1 nationals (outdoor) silver; 2018 BUCS division 1 nationals (indoor) 4th; 2019 BUCS division 2 nationals (outdoor) silver

Women’s 1st team

The team competes in the Scottish Tier 1 BUCS league, which takes place on two separate day events throughout the year.  In addition to this, they also travel to a variety of weekend tournaments including BUCS indoor regionals and nationals, mixed regionals and nationals, and club events.

Again, the recent success seen by the team is due to a heavy time commitment from the players.  They train 3 times a week (1 indoor, 2 outdoor) and benefit from twice weekly strength and conditioning sessions.  There is also a weekly fitness session, and team meeting which includes video analysis and tactical breakdowns.

Recent results: 2020 BUCS Scottish regional (indoor) gold; 2019 BUCS division 1 nationals (outdoor and indoor) top 8; 2018 BUCS division 1 nationals (outdoor and indoor) top 8

Men’s 2nd team

With a healthy intake of athletic freshers, and some old faces running the ship, the men’s 2nd’s are looking good this year.  Whilst predominantly a development team, a strong performance at their league day sets them up with a great change to qualify for division 3 nationals (outdoors).  We look forward to seeing how the team gets on, and are excited by the talent which is coming through!

Women’s 2nd team

This is the first year we’ve had the numbers to sustain a healthy women’s 2nd team, and they are more than meeting the coaches expectations.  Whilst this is again mainly a development team, an amazing performance at indoor regionals has enabled them to qualify for division 2 nationals.  Add this is a great BUCS league day, which may lead to further outdoor nats qualification, and the future of the women’s teams is looking bright!
