Women’s BUCS indoor nationals roundup

This weekend we sent three teams to Womens BUCS Indoor National Championships. The level of ultimate played throughout the tournament was inspiring and all three teams did St Andrews proud.

The 3rd team faced mostly 1st teams but did not let that phase them. They put in a strong fight in every single game and even came away with a huge 10-2 win against St Mary’s 1st team who were seed 1 in their division! They finished the weekend 13th out of 16 teams. But this placing doesn’t do justice the amount of effort this team put in and some of the incredible plays that were made.

The 2nd team played in the trophy division and put in an incredible performance, winning 5 of the 7 games they played. They finished their pool games unbeaten and moved to the top seed. They worked their way to the semi finals and beat Manchester in a very competitive game, securing them the bronze medal position!

The 1st team competed in the Championship division. They finished their pool games unbeaten and managed to defend their top seed. After losing on universe point in a very close crossover game against Loughborough, they still had a chance of making it through to the quarter finals. In the quarter finals, they threw all they had but unfortunately were beaten by Newcastle who went on to take gold. They finished the tournament in 6th place, which is a huge achievement for the history of women’s ultimate at St Andrews.
